Toy Review – Sex A-Peel Vibe

The Sex A-Peel Vibrator that my friends at Babeland sent me is about the size and shape of a real banana – well, a pink one. The banana part is made of silicone and comes with a bullet vibe that you insert to turn it from a dildo into a vibrator. The bullet runs on watch batteries (which, thank goodness, come already inside, with a slip of paper preventing the toy from turning on during shipping), and turns on and off with the press of a button on one end. Since the bullet is removable, it’s super easy to sterilize the banana between uses by boiling it or throwing it in the dishwasher (esp important if you plan to share with friends or use it anally as well).

What I liked: When I said I’d review this toy, it was partly because I thought it looked funny; but once I tested it out, I was REALLY impressed with how well the silicone banana transmits the vibrations of the bullet. It does a fine job externally (on a clit) and a decent job inside (as a g-spot vibe) because the banana has a great curve. The tapered tip of the banana is also great for user who might need to ease in toys – it’s not the thickest in my toy box, but I would say that it’s medium-ly thick.

What I didn’t like: Maybe I’m going about it wrong (but it’s such a simple toy, I’m not sure that’s possible), but I can’t get the bullet back out of the banana! It might take some lubrication to get it out, but that’s kind of a pain. Also, that little bullet is a little on the loud side.

This toy would be great for: someone looking for a unique toy. I think this one is novel enough that a lot of toy fans wouldn’t consider buying this for themselves, but it does work well, so it would be a fun gift.

The Sex A-Peel Vibe impressed me, I give it a 6 out of 10:

Toy Review – Rhythm O Triple Kiss

So while we wait for the long-overdue Cocktoberfest closing ceremonies, allow me to entertain you with a new toy review!

The Rhythm O Triple Kiss from California Exotics has a long name, but that’s because it has A LOT of features. For instance: the entire shaft is lined with rotating beads, the shaft rotates at 3 different speeds, the clit stim has 3 nubs (hence the “triple kiss”), you can control the shaft rotation and clit vibration independently of one another, there are 7 fantastic vibration programs, AND, if you aren’t sure what you feel like, you can press the “hot” button and a random combination of shaft rotation and clit vibration will be selected for you!

The whole thing runs on 4 AAA batteries, and the shaft/clit stim are made of phthalate-free TPE. It’s a fairly thick toy, so be cautious if you’re a smaller girl or are considering using this one for anal play.

What I liked: I liked the depth of the shaft rotation, I’ve said before that rotating shafts sometimes make me nauseous, but this one was just fine. I also enjoyed the thickness of the shaft; I’m a smaller girl, but I find that I have no problem with thicker toys if I’m properly warmed up before I start using them. I loved the vibration programs – there’s one that’s like a roller-coaster: the vibration builds and builds and builds and then drops away, and then builds and builds again..etc – very awesome! I also thought the “Hot” button was a fun touch.

What I didn’t like: My roommate wasn’t home, so it wasn’t a big deal, but this is certainly not one of my quieter toys. It’s better with the shaft rotation off (that’s always pretty noisy) though.

This toy would be great for: rabbit vibe enthusiasts! It’s easy to use, has some excellent vibration programs; but it’s not terribly quiet, so wouldn’t be great for someone who needs to be sneaky with their toys.

Triple Kiss gets an enthusiastic 7 out of 10:

Toy Review – Remote Vibrating Panties

Bullet vibes are fine, but I’ve always thought they’d be more fun without the crazy long (or too short) wire hooking the controller up to the actual bullet – you know, something you could hand off to a partner if you wanted to have some discrete fun in public places. Something, like Babeland’s Remote Vibe Panty.

The package comes with a pair of soft black satin panties with tie-up sides (meant for hips between 25 and 65 inches around) and a bullet vibe with a remote control. The panties have a pouch inside the front too, so you can tuck the bullet inside and nestle it against your clit.

The bullet has a little plastic loop on the end, which is suspect means the manufacturers probably had the idea that some women might want to pop it inside their vagina; but the bullet is a little chunky, so I can’t imagine that would be very comfortable unless you’re using it strictly for masturbation. (NB: this toy would NOT be safe for anal insertion)

The remote has a pretty good range (the manufacturer says it has a 16 foot range), I tested it around corners and through walls and it still worked. This is def something you and a partner could conceal and play with at a party – your partner should be able to give you a little buzz, even if you can’t see her/him (though it may not work if you are on different floors of a house).

The vibe comes with N batteries for both the bullet and the remote (yay for toys that come with batteries!) and the toy has multiple vibration settings and pulse programs. The whole thing also comes in a black satin pouch, which you can use for storage.

What I liked: I really liked the wireless remote control, it was convenient and very easy to use by myself, and is small enough to conceal in a pocket if you want to buzz someone else from across the room. Even if you did drop it, I doubt anyone would recognize it as a remote control for a vibrating bullet (but don’t lose it!). The bullet was as pretty powerful and the pulse programs are a lot of fun. The panties are also very comfortable and the pouch inside put the bullet in a perfect position for me.

What I didn’t like: no real complaints, though I do feel like the bullet is a little big and might show if you used it under tight pants.

This toy would be great for: couples who get off on sneakily getting each other off in public places – heck, if you’re single, you could even pick someone cute at a party to hand off the remote to or recruit a friend to pick someone at random who you then have to locate as they buzz your panties with the remote control. This toy is also plenty of fun to play with alone, the wireless controller means that you don’t have to worry about it getting tangled up with your sheets.

Toy Review – Inspire

I like the idea of having vibes that plug in, like the Inspire, sent to me by my friends at California Exotics. Plug-in vibes don’t ask that you have spare batteries kicking around, all they ask is that you have an outlet relatively near to your bed (or couch, or kitchen table? – wherever you plan to use it most often). (Please note that this is not a waterproof toy.)

The Inspire is a smaller version of bigger wand-type vibes (like the Ideal), but it makes up for it’s more compact design by being clit meltingly powerful! It’s made of high grade super silky silicone and has three main features: 1) (as I mentioned above) it plugs in, 2) it has a flexible head that bends nicely under light pressure, and 3) it only has one button to press.

That’s right, one (1) button. How is this possible? Well, when you hold down the power button, the vibration intensity increases. How much does it increase? Enough to make my hand go numb when I held it against the head for a few seconds.

What I liked: I did like the simplicity of this toy’s design, it’s so simple to just keep that button pressed until you get to the speed that you like best (see below for the however). Plus, I really liked how flexible the head of the wand was, it’s very nice for smooshing the vibe against whatever part of your body you want to stimulate. As you can probably tell, I was also really impressed by the power this smallish vibe packs, I kept holding down the button just to see how intense it would go and it pretty much blew me away.

What I didn’t like: Yes, the one button press design makes the toy simple to use; however, if you want to adjust the speed of the vibe as you use it, you’re more likely to turn it off than speed it up. Pretty much you’ll want to pick a speed and stick with it, or you’ll end up turning off the vibe and having to start all over to get to the level you want. On one hand it seems like a pain; on the other hand, I couldn’t decide if it was much worse than scrolling through a selection of vibration programs on other vibes. The other thing too, is that it can get pretty loud once the vibration gets turned up to the higher levels.

This would be great for: someone looking for a smaller wand vibe that packs a punch, but who doesn’t have to worry about waking a roommate with a noisy toy.

Toy Review – Patina

I was a little trepidatious when I saw the new arrival from my friends at CalExotics because I didn’t really like the last rabbit-type vibe that I tried as much as some of other styles of vibes I’ve had. But, since Patina looks much cuter, I decided to give it a chance to prove itself.

The Patina is made of medical-grade silicone and takes three AAA batteries. It’s about 12cm long and, as you can see from the pic above, it has a shafty part and a rabbit-style clit stim. The controller part has three buttons: one to turn it on and off, one to move through the vibration programs (there’s 7!) and one to control the rotation in the shafty part (there’s 3 speeds!).

[Just a little warning here, if your batteries aren't strong enough, pressing the rotation button just turns the whole thing off - which I found confusing, until it occurred to me that one of my batteries might have been a dud and I switched it out.]

The Patina is waterproof too, which means you can take it in the tub and don’t have to worry about cleaning it under the tap (as long as the battery hatch is closed correctly).

What I liked: I liked the size of the shafty part; I think because it’s not as thick as some other rabbit-type vibes, the rotation worked out a lot better. I really liked the rabbit-style clit stim (of course) and enjoyed all the vibration programs; there’s something about how this clit stim is designed that is just really nice, because the vibrations are accentuated by the little ears.

What I Didn’t like: Nothing too serious here, though I didn’t find that the rotation of the shaft did a whole lot for me – but I could definitely feel it and it wasn’t like it was uncomfortable, so I guess that kind of rotation just isn’t right for my body’s design.

This Toy Would be Great for: someone who likes having something inside while they stimulate their clit – you can enjoy the sensation of fullness while the clit stim works it’s magic. Plus you can bring it in the tub!

The Patina has restored my faith in Rabbit-Style Vibes, it gets a 7.5 out of 10!

Toy Review – G-Ki

Almost out of the blue, my friends at Eden Fantasys sent me an e-mail asking if I’d like to try out one of their newer toys, the G-Ki. After reading a short description, I was intrigued and quickly agreed to investigate this G-spot toy for my readers. ^_~ It arrived in a non-descript cardboard box (which is pretty much de rigeur these days) just days later and I wasted no time unwrapping it.

G-ki comes in a very nice black storage box, tied with a black ribbon. Inside, the bed for the vibe can be removed to reveal the instructions and charger. I am a huge fan of rechargeable toys (esp when they arrive pre-charged) and I thought it was SO cool that G-ki doesn’t even have a plug to insert; you just plug the charger into the wall socket and rest the vibe on the charging dock – it charges through it’s buttons! Since it has no hole for a plug, it’s also nicely waterproof which means you don’t have to worry about getting it too wet when you’re cleaning it (or using it).

The other neat thing about this vibe is that it’s adjustable – there’s one pressure point that you push to adjust the angle of the “head” and another to adjust the angle of the neck so that you can set it up just right for you. The toy is covered (except for the buttons) with body safe soft silicone too, so it has a nice, silky texture. But enough about its stats, let’s get on with the review!

What I liked: To begin with, I though that the vibe, overall, was a really good size. It was perfect for insertion, with its slightly bulbous head and thinner shaft. The buttons were easy to access and use to adjust the speed (5 speeds + 5 pulse settings = hawt!). I found that this toy was also relatively quiet, despite being excellently powerful. I liked that, while it did vibrate all along the whole vibe, the vibrations weren’t too intense inside me (which is good), and were nicely intense on the outside, where the body of the vibe was pressed against my clit. I think the charger is cool too and I liked being able to “customize” the toy a little, by bending it to my will suit my needs.

What I didn’t like: My only complaint is that I had some trouble trying to adjust the toy once it got slick with lubey stuff, so you’ll want to keep something handy to dry it off if you want to adjust it in the middle of playing with it.

This Toy Would be Great for: anyone who has found that the g-spot/insertion vibes they’ve been trying just aren’t cutting it – it’s really nice when you can adjust a toy to fit better with you body, since all of us are built just a little differently from one another. ^_^
