The findings of a study lead by Graham Giles, of the Cancer Council Victoria in Melbourne, suggest that masturbation is actually really important for men around my friend’s age.

“Frequent” (5 times a week) masturbation (i.e. orgasms) by males in their 20s helps prevent prostate cancer later in life. “Australian scientists have shown that the more men masturbate between the ages of 20 and 50, the less likely they are to develop the disease that kills more than half a million men each year.”

This is likely because frequent stimulation (by ejaculation) keeps carcinogens (aka bad cancer causing stuff) from building up in the testicles (aka your balls).

So that’s a definite health benefit specifically for men, but there are lots more good things about masturbation for everyone. ^_^

For instance, masturbation improves your muscle tone – for the ladies, that’s better than doing your keggle exercises to strengthen your internal muscles – better muscle tone inside your vagina is more fun for sex (because you can intensify and control orgasms) and its handy when you’re older (to help prevent pee leakage).

Also for the ladies, masturbating (i.e. orgasms) will also help with your PMS and can help relieve your period cramps. ^_^

Masturbation(and sex) also makes you feel more relaxed – it helps you fall asleep and relaxes your muscles. It reduces stress, enhances your self esteem, and can boost your immune system to protect you from infection.

When you cum, your brain releases opioid-like neurotransmitters (endorphins), which gives you a feeling of physical and mental wellbeing (which is always a good thing in my book).

Masturbation also helps you explore your own sexuality in ways that are sometimes impossible when you are with a partner – letting you get to know your triggers and, for some of you, helping you learn to control your orgasms for when you are with a partner.
