Proms

Wow, the biggest issue I had at my own prom was that I got into an argument with my then boyfriend because he was being a huge bummer and not coming to the after-party (I ended up going without him) – but other teens have WAY bigger problems than I did.

For instance – Constance McMillen was looking forward to attending her highschool’s prom, until her school decided to cancel it because she wanted to wear and tux and bring her girlfriend as her date. I tweeted incredulously about this yesterday, because I cannot believe this kind of homophobic foolishness is still happening in North America.

It’s PROM, it’s supposed to be FUN and lightheated – who cares what someone wants to wear or who they want to bring?! Groups of friends show up without dates to proms all the time, are they going to cancel proms because of that or not allow entry unless you came with a date? That’s just stupid.

A lot of people around the internets are just as (or more) outraged by this as I am are are rallying together to support McMillen, and students like her, in their quest to be recognized as human beings with the same rights and freedoms as everyone else. Advice for a New Dildo User

Five Years of The S Spot!

Toy Review – Patina

I was a little trepidatious when I saw the new arrival from my friends at CalExotics because I didn’t really like the last rabbit-type vibe that I tried as much as some of other styles of vibes I’ve had. But, since Patina looks much cuter, I decided to give it a chance to prove itself.

The Patina is made of medical-grade silicone and takes three AAA batteries. It’s about 12cm long and, as you can see from the pic above, it has a shafty part and a rabbit-style clit stim. The controller part has three buttons: one to turn it on and off, one to move through the vibration programs (there’s 7!) and one to control the rotation in the shafty part (there’s 3 speeds!).

[Just a little warning here, if your batteries aren't strong enough, pressing the rotation button just turns the whole thing off - which I found confusing, until it occurred to me that one of my batteries might have been a dud and I switched it out.]

The Patina is waterproof too, which means you can take it in the tub and don’t have to worry about cleaning it under the tap (as long as the battery hatch is closed correctly).

What I liked: I liked the size of the shafty part; I think because it’s not as thick as some other rabbit-type vibes, the rotation worked out a lot better. I really liked the rabbit-style clit stim (of course) and enjoyed all the vibration programs; there’s something about how this clit stim is designed that is just really nice, because the vibrations are accentuated by the little ears.

What I Didn’t like: Nothing too serious here, though I didn’t find that the rotation of the shaft did a whole lot for me – but I could definitely feel it and it wasn’t like it was uncomfortable, so I guess that kind of rotation just isn’t right for my body’s design.

This Toy Would be Great for: someone who likes having something inside while they stimulate their clit – you can enjoy the sensation of fullness while the clit stim works it’s magic. Plus you can bring it in the tub!

The Patina has restored my faith in Rabbit-Style Vibes, it gets a 7.5 out of 10!

Product Review – 2040

Just a disclaimer before you read this review: I’m a harsh judge of porn – I’m really really picky about what I want to see and what I don’t want to see. Still, when when my friends at Babeland asked me if I wanted to review this new big-budget porn that was chock full of stars and poised to win awards, I thought I’d give 2040 a chance to impress me.

So, I recruited a straight guy friend to watch it with me (to provide a guy’s perspective for you) and we popped it in (the DVD not… you know… ^_~) to have a look.

What we liked: The nice thing about watching a big budget porn is the attention to detail; the sets were nice, the costumes were good, and everything looked great. Alektra Blue played a fantastic android (all joking aside about porn actresses’ ability), I was extremely impressed with how well she stayed in character. However, for me, personally, Kristen Price stole the show a little – her character was just so damn spicy, and hot in her techie costume (esp the one they show her in on the cover). I also enjoyed the details that were added for the story – like the “director” instructing Randy Spears’ character to ejaculate in the sex android’s removable oral cavity, and the discussion about Alektra’s character’s self cleaning vagina. haha

What we didn’t like: It’s the same complaint I have about most mainstream porn – the sex is too repetitive and I get bored. Especially with all the oral; I don’t know what it is, but watching blowjob after blowjob bores me to death. My male friend even agrees with me here – there is too much time spent on bjs and he not only finds it boring, but doesn’t particularly enjoy looking at another man’s cock for so long. But hey, that’s just us. Oh, I also find Randy Spears a little creepy – though he DID play his role well.

Also, I couldn’t decide if this was bad or not – but 2040 is a REALLY long movie and the plot kinda drags by the end. I’m wondering if maybe you’re not meant to watch it all in one sitting.

Final Verdict: This porn was pretty to look at and the plot was carried out fairly well, but we still found it a little boring. However, as I said above – we are quite picky.

2040 gets a 6 out of 10
