A few weeks ago I was at home with a bad cold. As if they knew just what would boost my immune system, my friends at Cal Exotics sent me a new vibe to review – the L’Amour Thumper (adding a “the” in front of the “L” IS redundant, but it just sounds better in english, so go with it – okay?)
The L’Amour is part of Cal Exotics awkwardly named sex toy line rabbit style vibrator collection. It’s made of super soft silicone (except the handle part with the controls, that’s plastic) and is about 13cm long (approximate insertable length). It takes 3 AAA batteries, the shaft rotates at 3 different speeds, and the friendly little bunny ears vibrate on seven different programs. The controls are pretty simple: there’s a master on/off switch, a button that cycles through the vibration programs, and a button that cycles through the shaft rotation speeds.
What I liked: I’m always a little skeptical of rabbit vibes, but I really enjoyed this one. The silicone had a great texture, the rotation of the shaft was perfect (in that it felt sexy, rather than weird), and of course the rabbit part was great. I liked the vibration programs a lot and cycled through them all a few times before finding a few faves (like the one that slowly gets stronger and stronger and then suddenly drops away before starting all over again).
What I didn’t like: my only complaint is that it’s a hassle trying to keep three AAA batteries around. I would have been happier if this toy took AAs.
In conclusion: This is a great toy for rabbit lovers or for someone who wants to give them a try.
L’Amour rates an 8 out of 10:

Would it be possible to get prices included with the reviews? Is there a reason why they’re not included now? I realize that some toys get sent to you, but I don’t think toy manufacturers are going to start doing that for me any time soon (much to my continued dismay).
I was just reading through, thinking that I’m not too sure how I feel about a rabbit vibe when it hit me: I’d try it if it was reasonably well rated, and I didn’t have to blow a whole shift’s pay on one.
Plus, it would be nice to know if a toy was worth the price (in a good or you-get-what-you-pay-for way), a gem, or an overpriced gizmo.
Hi Tabitha – I don’t put the price of the toy up for two reasons: 1. because you could really buy a lot of these toys from many places and the prices could vary, and 2. because I post a link to where you can buy them, and the price is listed there.
But I do like the idea of kinda trying to judge whether a toy is worth the price… I might try doing that from now on. :)
